Filtered Photograph
I still remember that chilly day in Spring
My memories funnelled through
A filtered photograph
And so all is tinted blush From the way you strode to me
To the look in your eyes I could not see
The palpable politeness in your voice
And the delicate detachedness of your touch
Your gentle heat but skin deep
And the heroic attempt at a smile But all is tinted blush
And so I see warmth that is not there Until that sweltering day in Summer
My memories still funnelled through
A filtered photograph
But all now is tinted blue From the way you stood within my midst
To the look in your eyes I finally see
The surprise and relief in your voice
And the casual kindness of your touch
Your hand so cold but heart so soft And though all is tinted blue
I feel warmth, at last, from you
